Farm-based case studies and demonstrations for productive perennial saltland pasture establishment and management across Western Australia - by the Saltland Pastures Association, WA EverGreen Farming and the WA Lucerne Growers Assocation.
Extracted from the Saltland Pastures Association "Perennial Pasture Companions" booklet - this Case Study looks how Greg & Camille Tippet, farming near Shackleton in the central wheatbelt of Western Australia, have tackled their salt problems with saltbush.
Extracted from the Saltland Pastures Association "Perennial Pasture Companions" booklet - this Case Study looks at how Tony York is always trying to integrate new saltland research into his farming system. Tony's property, 'Anameka Farms' is near Tammin in the heart of Western Australia's wheatbelt. It is also in one of WA's most 'saline shires'!
Extracted from the Saltland Pastures Association "Perennial Pasture Companions" booklet - this Case Study looks at Cameron & Teresa Tubby and their farm at Canna, 40km north of Morowa in Western Australia's northern wheatbelt.
Extracted from the Saltland Pastures Association "Perennial Pasture Companions" booklet - this Case Study looks at what Greg & Nathan Astbury have done on their 2200ha property near Narrogin. Saltbush and fencing for regeneration have been the focus for the 200ha of salt affected land.
Extracted from the Saltland Pastures Association "Perennial Pasture Companions" booklet - this Case Study looks at what Chris English has done on his farm near Wagin, Western Australia, where he has looked at turning a previously non-productive barley grass paddock subjected to seasonal waterlogging into a productive system with salt-tolerant species.
Extracted from the Saltland Pastures Association "Perennial Pasture Companions" booklet - this Case Study looks at how Ian Walsh has tackled salinity at the foothills of the Stirling Ranges near Cranbrook. Ian is now looking at his saltland as a resource rather than a problem and is introducing saltland pastures and perennials into their farming system.
Manual for the use of the Saltland Pastures Association "Water and Soil Salinity Monitoring Kit" - the Salt Bag, which contains an EC & pH meter, calibration solutions, sample jars, deionised water, this manual and a 'plopper/bailer' with cord for monitoring bore depth and collecting groundwater samples.
This document is a guide used for the development and delivery of training workshops delivered in Western Australia in 2010. It provides a template for use in similar courses, including a generic and example outlines of workshop sessions, a list of suggested resources and presenters, a checklist of requirements for a saline site to use in a characterisation exercise and an example participant evaluation form.
