Manilla Film Clip

Tall Wheat Grass pastures for saltland
Manilla:
Located in the headwaters of the Manilla River, the Banoon sub-catchment has been subject to the expression of salinity in recent years. To combat land degradation and reduced farm productivity resulting from elevated salt levels, a Tall Wheat Grass based pasture was planted in low-lying saltland (discharge) areas. The salt pasture was managed in combination with a perennial Fescue/Phalaris based pasture planted further up-slope in the recharge area of the landscape.
This clip shows the success one producer has had in turning an unproductive salt scald into an area that is now almost too productive!
