Success with a very wet site Keajura (near Wagga): This area was getting barer and wetter each year. In supposedly the driest year on record, we bogged the spreader. During the recent drought, an existing 20 hectare saline site began to discharge saline water and ‘bare off’. As a result, the area was effectively ‘out of production’ and the saline, waterlogged soil was prone to erosion, threatened farm water quality and made traffic movement difficult. We wondered how much worse it was going to get, and how much ground we were going to lose. We thought we should do something about it, so in 2003, we began a trial to investigate how best to manage a growing saline discharge site.
Lucerne is shown as a great success in this film clip.
